Sweatshirt Jacket
About the Design:
As first seen in Knitter’s Fall ’96.
I was thinking of my husband, when I designed this sweatshirt, as he is an engine rebuilder/mechanic and often wears cotton thermal sweatshirts. These sweatshirts are not warm enough and also shrink, with all the washing and machine drying they require.
This sweatshirt jacket/hoodie is a unisex piece. I’d wear it on our end-of-season yard sale forays, gardening, or for running errands.
The fit is comfortable. If you’re not someone who wears hoods, simply work a ribbing at the neck, before working the single crochet edging on the front edges and insert a slightly longer zipper, to extend up into the ribbing.
Sizes: 42 (47, 50)” (zipped)
Yarn: Chunky-Bulky weight wool, Approx: 2000 (2100, 2400) yds color of your choice. (The original was knit in Tahki’s Lana at 36.8 yds/oz., used double.) Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride Bulky, used double, is a good substitute.
Gauge: 10 sts and 14 rows = 4″ (10cm) in st st with size 11 ndls (or size to give gauge) and 2 strands yarn held together.
Skill Level: Intermediate
Happy Knitting!
