Notes from the Designer:
I love making socks. They are the perfect travel knitting project. You can pop them into your bag and pull them out whenever you are waiting for an appointment. My mom Susie is often the recipient of my sock projects. I often give her a pair for Christmas, her birthday, or Mother’s Day. This design, named in her honor, features a column of leaves along the outside and an Eye of Partridge heel for a bit of interest. Whether plain or fancy, her socks are always stitched with love.
- Pattern is written to be worked cuff down, using 4 DPNs, but feel free to substitute your favorite sock making method.
- The pattern is easily adjustable for both leg and foot length, but yardage estimates are based on working the pattern as written for the leg length.
- As a general rule of thumb, if you wear a US women’s shoe size: 5.5 - 7, use the Small size of this pattern; US 7.5 - 9, use the Medium; and US 9.5 - 11, use Large. You can adapt length and width as desired.
- Check the fit of your socks often. At any time you would like to check the fit of your sock, transfer the stitches purlwise to waste yarn and try on the sock.
- The chart was adapted from a chart included in Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible: 260 Exquisite Patterns by Hitomi Shida.
- The lace pattern is designed to be offset and is supposed to run down the outside of the leg and foot.
