Surfsong is a crescent shawl worked from the top down with an applied lace edging. The main body of the shawl alternates between garter and stockinette stitch ( perfect for knit night or a netflix binge). The border is worked perpendicular . The lace is easy and intuitive. I tend to be fearful of lace but this one is easy to read and follow.
Border directions are both written and charted.
I had purchased these skeins of Thelma ad Louise knowing I wanted to make a shawl. I tried a few things, they didn’t work. So it sat waiting patiently for inspiration to come. As summer came to an end I was thinking about some of the shells we had found when on vacation in South Carolina, especially the lines and color. Then remembered that I wanted a neutral shawl to wear this year and all the pieces came together.

Yarn: DK weight yarn ( 700 yds / 640 m)

(50% Wool, 50% Mohair, 240 yds / 100g per skein ) in Natural.

Needles: Size US 7 / 4.5 mm 24” circular or size to get gauge.

Notions: Tapestry needle, 2 locking stitch markers.
