This shawl was inspired by my time in Michigan, surrounded by the Great Lakes. I loved sitting on the dunes watching a storm come in, with the waves rolling from the deep waters all the way to the shore. Lake Superior in particular was always fascinating; it’s the largest fresh-water lake in the world (by surface area), it holds 10% of the world’s fresh water (more than all the other great lakes combined), it’s the cleanest and clearest of the great lakes, and waves there have topped 40’.
Superior Waves Shawlette is worked from the bottom up, with the lace shaped in wedges, then short rows worked in the garter st section to complete the crescent shape. The instructions are fully written, with the lace section also charted.
