Pattern is worked completely in the round. All the pieces are attached as you go so there is NO seaming.
This pattern was designed to meet your time constraints. You have the option of making a Naked Version OR a Decked-Out Version with a hat and scarf.
A fun, quick and easy project for knitters of any skill level. All the shaping is made with increase and/or decrease stitches.
To knit either toy, you will need to:
-Knit in the round
-Increase and decrease stitches
-Follow instructions for a three-needle decrease (provided in pattern)
-Know how to work a 3-Needle Bind-Off
-Know how to knit I-cord
Sizes: The Worsted sample is approximately 5” from base to top of head and the Fingering weight sample is approximately 3.25” from base to top of head.
Materials & Tools
• Yarn in the weight and color of your choice. For my samples, I used approximately 16 grams each of Knit Picks Bare Worsted and 5 grams of Knit Picks Bare Stroll. Your yardage will vary based on yarn weight and needle size. Scrap yarns used for the limbs and nose. The hat uses approximately 14 grams in Worsted and 5 grams in Fingering, in the color of your choice.
• Needles for working in the round (DPNs, 2 circulars, or 1 long circular for Magic Loop). Needle size will vary depending on the yarn you use (see Gauge).
• An additional needle, same size as above, to use when working a three-needle decrease or a 3-needle bind-off.
• Tapestry needle
• A pair of safety eyes (12mm eyes for the Worsted size OR 7.5mm eyes for the Fingering size)
• Polyfil
• Scrap yarn or spare needles for holding live stitches
• Black embroidery floss for eyebrows, mouth & teeth
• A permanent marker to color the nose (optional)
• Buttons, jingle bells, pompoms (optional)
Gauge
You want to produce a dense fabric so the polyfil does not poke through. Use a needle that is at least 1 or 2 sizes smaller than the smallest needle size recommended on the yarn label.
