Sunny Dee
This shawlette is worked from tip to tip, making it the perfect shawl for two skeins of yarn. In a bulky yarn on large needles it works up into a cozy armspan-wide shawl, in sock yarn or lace weight on smaller needles, you’ll have a smaller shawlette perfect for wrapping artfully around your neck to keep the chill off.
You can use any weight of yarn that suits your fancy – though estimating total yardage needed ahead of time may be a bit trickier. As long as you have approximately 200 grams / 8 ounces of yarn in two skeins or balls, you should end up with a workable finished product.
Use needles that give you a light, open fabric – not too firmly knit, or it won’t drape well. You also need one stitch marker (if you haven’t got any ‘official stitch markers’ a safety pin or a loop of yarn will work).
And why is it called Sunny Dee? Well, that’s because the first one was made for my friend Dee out of a bright, sunshiny yarn and the name just seemed to fit. Make one in sunny colours for yourself or a friend and you’ll see what I mean!
