Seeing fields of sunflowers in full bloom is one of the delights of travelling through European countries, such as France, Hungary and Ukraine, in the summer.

The Sunflower Fields motif has a brown centre surrounded by bright yellow petals. You start by crocheting a simple circle, then begin the petals by working two rounds of shells using treble crochet stitches, before finishing the petals by working the final round using half treble, treble, double treble and front post stitches.

Gauge | Tension
Regardless of yarn, aim for a tighter tension than usual. Therefore, choose a smaller hook size than the one you usually use for this yarn.

Other details

This pattern is available in two versions: one written for those who crochet left-handed and the standard one for those who crochet right-handed.

Most of you crochet right-handed, that is, you hold your hook in your right hand and you make new stitches from right to left.

Some of you crochet left-handed, that is, you hold your hook in your left hand and you make new stitches from left to right.

If you are a left-handed crocheter who crochets right-handed, that is you hold your hook in your right hand, you should use the pattern for crocheting right-handed.

Both the left-handed and right-handed versions are available with UK or US crochet terms.
