I love and have been using Barbara Walker’s top-down, seamless, simultaneous set-in sleeve method for most of my sweaters. It’s my favorite way to get a set-in sleeve - no seaming and no short-row sleeve caps with the annoying little holes around the arm. It is a bit fiddly at the start, however, so I’ve come up with a modified version that is a little simpler - fewer steps at the beginning, no tiny pieces to start with, no short rows at all, and fewer ends to weave in.
This DK weight pullover is basic, easy, very wearable, and has the simplest of touches - a bit of stretchy garter at the shoulders to conform to your shape, a simple garter-edged scoop neck, 3/4 sleeves, gentle waist shaping, and an easy eyelet edging.
NO short rows!
NO seams!
NO provisional cast-on!
NO finishing other than weaving in ends!
