This pattern is an easy and economical knit. Surprisingly it is simple and fast!
It comes with two back variations as well.
Summerize top only looks sophisticated! knitting it is much simpler than you might imagine.
This pattern, like many of my patterns comes in two versions: a V shaped low back , or a closed back, similar to the front neck line.
The top is sleeveless, however it is very easy to add short sleeves if you wish to, and if you are a little bit experienced with working top to bottom yokes (there are no sleeves instructions in the pattern).
Sizes and measurements:
The pattern is written for sizes XS (S, M, L, XL, 2XL) for bust circumference of 77 (85, 95, 105, 115, 125) cm / 30 (33.5, 37.5, 41, 45, 49) Inches. It is shown in the photos in S size.
Ease: for low back version it would be best to knit with a little bit of negative ease.
for the closed back version a little bit of positive ease can be fine.
Yarn: I have chosen to work with cotton yarn which is very suitable for the upcoming hot summer where I live. You can choose other fibers as well.
The yarn should be of lace weight (24 wpi, super fine ore fingering), 470 m for 100g in two colors- MC (shown in cream), which is always worked in stockinette stitch- and begins in the center yolk, and CC (shown in green) which is worked on garter stitch).
Gauge: 24 sts and 38 rows= 10x10 cm/ 4’’x4’’in stockinette stitch with 3.25 (US 3) circular needles of bust size length or any other size to maintain gauge.
Materials:
80 cm/ 32’’ gauge size circular needles needles.
Larger needles (circ/straight/DPN) at least 0.5 mm/ one size larger than gauge size for Icelandic bind- off.
Waste yarn or smaller gauge circulars to hold sts, 6 stitch markers, tapestry needle.
Structure and Techniques:
At the beginning the top front is worked flat in a triangular shape, then the back is added (by cable cast on for the deep cut/ by repeating the front top once more for the closed cut) and the top is worked in the round as a raglan top.
The sleeves stitches are then held on waste yarn- and only the body is worked. When the desired length is achieved the body is divided into left and right in order to match the sides to the same length as the center.
The sleeves are then bound off using the Icelandic bind off- a video tutorial will be linked in the pattern.
Yarn Usage Estimate- Closed back Version MC/CC:
