Summer Promenade
Combine a delicate lace motif with an unusual shawl shaping in this elegant yet easy-to-knit design.
The crescent shape is obtained in the top body part by increasing stitches at the side edges. Once the top garter section is completed, the lace part is worked by increasing one st each RS row on both sides of each lace portion (3 portions in total).
A garter border with a picot edge finishes the shawl with a pretty touch.
The shawl size is easily customizable both increasing the garter section on top, on the bottom, or adding more repeats to the lace section.
You can also replace the picot edge with a simple bind off, adding fringes at the end for a more casual look.
GAUGE after blocking: 20 sts x 40 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm / 4” x 4” in garter stitch.
Gauge is not critical; different gauge will only affect finished size and yardage.
FINISHED SIZE after wet blocking: wingspan 172 cm / 67.5”; depth at the deepest point 47 cm / 18.5”.
