A sleeveless summer top based on the Esio Trot jumper (available in my Ravelry library here link text, Summer Esio has a modern, casual look and is a fun to knit project. The stockinette stitch fabric of the front and back, with a curled up hem finish, provides a striking contrast to the side striped panels.

The body is worked in the round, from the bottom up. There are four vertical rib stripes that separate the two stockinette stitch areas from the two horizontal stripe areas. The stockinette stitch areas increase and the horizontal stripe areas decrease, moving the vertical rib stripes towards the shoulders.
After separating for the armholes, the back and front are worked flat, separately, and shoulders are shaped using German short rows. Stitches are kept on holders and a three needle bind-off is used to seam the shoulders. The neck edge is worked in the round.
