A fingering weight version of my Autumn Dreamer shawl, complete with LACE!

This shawl features a unique crescent shape that’s knit from the flat edge down to the picots. Bouncy cables meet delicate, open lacework to create a shawl that’s light as air. The shawl is finished with elongated picots that help shape the lace.

This pattern is written in TWO sizes. A smaller shawlette and a larger wrap/shawl. (See dimensions directly below.)

Finished Blocked Measurements:

• Shawlette: 58” wide x 23” deep

• Full Shawl: 70” wide X 28” deep

Skills required:

• A more advanced shawl construction (6 increases every other row)

• Simple 4-stitch Cables (1/3 RC and 1/3 LC)

• Advanced Lacework featuring SSK, K2tog, CDD and double yarnovers

• Garter Tab Cast On (video link provided)

• Picot Bind Off in combination with a stretchy bind off (instructions included in pattern)

• Pattern is both written AND charted.

Yarn:

Shawlette: (MC) Approximately 435 yards of fingering weight yarn (CC) Approximately 435 yards of fingering weight yarn

Full Shawl: (MC) Approximately 850 yards of fingering weight yarn (CC) Approximately 850 yards of fingering weight yarn

Needles:

• Cables: Size US #4 (3.5mm) 40” circular needles for working back and forth

• Lace: Size US #2 (2.75mm) 40” circular needles for working back and forth

• Picot Bind Off: Size US #7 (4.5mm) needle, or 5 sizes larger than your gauge

Gauge:

The lace portion is difficult to measure, so a special gauge swatch is created and then measured to figure out gauge for this project. Instructions are both charted and written in the pattern.

Note:

The special cables create a 4X1 rib that expands once blocked, so it’s highly recommended that you use a natural fiber, instead of acrylic or high percentage acrylic blend.

This pattern includes an “open license” which allows the knitter to sell the finished item.
