Sugar Maple
Sugar Maple is a raglan sleeve, drape front cardigan. The body is knitted in one piece to the underarm. Sleeves, knitted separately from the cuff to the desired length at the underarm, are joined to the body, and raglan shaping continues in one piece to the neckline.
A simple knot stitch has been added to the front borders, sleeves and upper bodice for texture. It can be omitted without a change in stitch gauge. If your yarn choice has multiple colors, a tweed effect or a lot of texture, you may want to replace the knot stitch with a knit stitch.
As with many lace stitch patterns, increases (yo) and decreases may be several stitches apart affecting marker placement. If used, stitch markers should be used only to assist in counting the 12 st repeats. Markers should be removed while working Row 3 of the Maple Leaf Lace Charts. Before you begin the cardigan, knit a sample swatch of the Maple Leaf Lace Setup Chart and continue the swatch with the Maple Lace Repeat Chart.
The Maple Leaf Lace Charts include border stitches. The five border sts continue on the upper body. After completion of the Maple Leaf Lace Setup Chart, 14 stitches will have been decreased. A total of 12 stitches are decreased with every completion of the Maple Leaf Lace Repeat Chart.
