What’s a scrumptious treat with a scoop on top? The Sugar Cone Sweater! Serve yourself a delicious combination of silk, mohair and merino, and settle in for a truly pleasurable knit.

This luscious pullover is worked from the neck down, allowing you to try it on for size as you go. Its graceful scooped neckline, optional princess-seam waist shaping, and bracelet-length bell sleeves are timeless and so flattering. Instructions for customizing the length of the sleeves and body are included.

If you’ve never indulged in slip stitch knitting, the sugar cone patterning at the hem and cuffs will give you a taste. It’s easy and fun, with beautiful results.

Recommended ease: 0-3”/0-7.5 cm. To achieve this fit, choose a size with a bust measurement that is 0-3”/0-7.5 cm larger than your own.

Needles

• US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle, 24”/60 cm or longer, or size to obtain gauge
• US 7 (4.5 mm) double-pointed needles or preferred method for knitting small circumferences in the round, or size to obtain gauge
• US 5 (3.75 mm) circular needle, 16”/40 cm or 24”/60 cm, or preferred method for knitting small circumferences in the round (for neckband), or two sizes smaller than needle size used to obtain gauge

NOTE: If you tend to work small circumferences more tightly, use a needle one size larger than the needle used to obtain gauge.

Gauge
Blocked: 17½ stitches and 24 rows/rounds = 4”/10 cm square in stockinette stitch.
Unblocked: 18 stitches and 26 rows/rounds = 4”/10 cm square in stockinette stitch.

NOTE: It is important to swatch both in the round and flat in order for the sweater to fit well. The yoke is mostly worked flat, while the body and sleeves are worked in the round. Be sure to achieve gauge in both methods with the needle size that works for you and your knitting technique.
