Studded Diamonds Cowl
I have recently become intrigued with producing more intricate designs that look like stranded colour work but are much simpler to knit using slipped stitches - only one colour is worked per round. This is not mosaic as it alternates the colour worked every round.
This cowl is the companion to the Studded Diamonds Hat, knit at a looser gauge to give more drape to the fabric. It will look best if made in one light colour and one dark colour to really show the pattern.
The sample shows the wider option. The narrower option works three rows of small diamonds. You will need 186/225 yards (170/206 m) MC and 108/153 yards (99/140 m) CC.
The sample was made using two coordinating colours of Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend – 30% silk and 70% merino extra fine wool – which is 300 yards per 100 grammes. If making both the hat and the wide cowl a 100g skein of each will be enough, but you may need to swap your main and contrast colours to be on the safe side.
The pattern is charted using StitchMastery and has full written instructions.
Stitches used: k, p, s1p
