This is a crochet interpretation of a project in the Make It Yourself library, a 12-volume craft collection packed with great patterns and ideas (originally published in 1973). This particular pattern is the cover feature for Volume. 6. It’s a simple pattern, and would be easy to adapt for larger sizes or different decorative treatments.

Note that the pattern calls for fingering weight yarn. I’ve tested both worsted and sport weight and recommend sticking with the lighter weights. If using worsted, use a K hook.
