The texture in the striping on this shawl reminds me of the grooves formed by glaciers on Kelly’s Island on Lake Erie in Ohio. A family member had a house there, and we would spend a week or so there every summer when I was a kid. We’d scamper through the Glacial Grooves, explore an old winery, and make pizzas in our pie irons over the fire. Almost every night would end with lightning bugs and s’mores and if I close my eyes and concentrate, I can still smell what those vacations were like.
