The Stonehaven Shawl is inspired by a delightful visit to the Aberdeenshire coastal town of Stonehaven. The scalloped pattern reflects both the breaking waves of the North Sea and shapes within a beautiful metal fence running along the sea front promenade.

The shawl is constructed top down, starting with a wide tab and then continuing as a central wide rectangle and two outer triangle wings. The overall shawl shape is similar to a crescent or a wide semi-circle. The scallop pattern is knitted within the central rectangle, with reverse stocking stitch ridges extending into the outer triangles. The whole of the lower border is also worked in the scallop pattern using a contrasting shade.
