Needles
Size US 5/3.75 mm: 32”/80 cm circular and set of double-pointed needles.
Size US 4/3.5 mm: 32”/80 cm circular and set of double-pointed needles.
Optional: spare circular US 4/3.5 mm needle 32”/80 cm long for Tubular Cast On.
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions
Stitch markers, cable needle, stitch holders, waste yarn, tapestry needle, 7 buttons 5/8”/16 mm in diameter.
Gauge
21 stitches and 30 rows = 4”/10 cm in Reverse Stockinette stitch on US 5/3.75 mm, after blocking.
24 stitches and 30 rows = 4”/10 cm Cable pattern on US 5/3.75 mm, after blocking.
Notes
- The cardigan is worked in one piece from the bottom up to underarms; then fronts and back are worked separately.
- Stitches for sleeves are picked up along the armholes and sleeves are worked in the round from the top down.
- When working in rows, read RS (odd-numbered) chart rows from right to left; read WS (even-numbered) chart rows from left to right. When working in the round, read all chart rows from right to left. During shaping, if there are not enough stitches to work a charted pattern, work the stitches of the partial cable in stockinette stitch. Make sure that every decrease has a corresponding increase.
- The “right” or “left” directions always refer to wearer’s right or left, rather than the piece in relation to you when knitting.
