This pattern is for a multicolor striped blanket. The edges are garter, while the body of the blanket is knit with the Half Linen Stitch.

The pattern calls for the blanket to be knit on a (7/16” gauge) afghan S loom with #4 yarn, using 197 of the 198 pegs – one peg left unused. Smaller blankets can be made using fewer pegs and rows than the 197 indicated. E-wrap knit stitch is used throughout the pattern when a knit stitch is required.

197 pegs - queen topper 5’ x7’
141 pegs - throw approximately 4’ x 6’

This is not a fitted item, so gauge is not essential.

Materials:

  • knitting loom: 7/16” gauge afghan loom using 197 pegs for the queen topper. Fewer pegs can be used for a smaller blanket.
  • knitting tool, scissors, optional: 2 moveable markers for yarn, 2 fixed makers to indicate border

Yarn: use as much #4 yarn as you need to achieve the desired size. As this pattern is designed to be a stashbuster from your stash, exact yardage cannot be listed, but expect to use up to 3600 yards for the largest size. The pattern sample was knit mainly in acrylic worsted and aran, but blends can be used, as long as the care and washing follows that of the most delicate yarn. You can sneak in a few #5 or #3 yarns without compromising the overall look.
