The best time to make and wear beautiful hand-knits is during the darkest days and the longest nights of mid-winter. Gaze upwards on a cold, clear evening, and you might be rewarded with the luminescence of the winter sky.

The Starlit Night mitts are part of the Mid-Winter Knits collection, a collaborative project with Aroha Knits. Four designs are inspired by the practice of stargazing at Matariki, the Maori New Year, which falls on the Southern Hemisphere’s winter solstice. You might also like the Bundle of Stars design!

Silver mohair stars twinkle on a background of rich hand-dyed Merino wool, a constellation in your hand. The luxurious fibres knit into a sumptuous fabric, a delight to knit and wear. An afterthought thumb construction allows the stitch pattern to continue uninterrupted through the hand. I-Cord Bind-Off completes the trim.
