In May of 2017 I designed my Starlight JL blanket pattern, featuring Jacobs Ladder stitches to add texture to it. In the back of my mind, I kept thinking I wanted to design a poncho with the same stitch pattern. Finally, 4 years later, I’ve done it. I am so happy with how this poncho turned out. I hope you enjoy making one as much as I did.

Like on my Star Light JL blanket, the Jacobs Ladder braids really make the design pop. This poncho has a great oversize fit, without being bulky. Use a lighter weight yarn and smaller hook to make a child size poncho.

This is an advanced beginner pattern, you will need to know basic crochet terminology and stitches like Front and back post double crochet. It’s very versatile, you can crochet it in any weight yarn with the appropriate hook.
