Star Cradle Wrap
Photos relayed from the Hubble Space Telescope are awe-inspiring and sometimes terrifying in their vast magnificence. The Star Cradle Wrap, inspired by the Pillars of Creation photo captured by Hubble, is a project of grand proportion, indulgent yarn, and nonplanar geometry, worked as a series of squishy garter-stitch squares. Swaddle yourself in this ethereal but voluminous wrap and consider the wonder.
Difficulty Level Easy

NOTES
- This wrap is worked in a modular fashion using mitered shaping. A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches.
- The sample used almost all of eight skeins of yarn A. Consider purchasing an extra skein as insurance.
- Work with two strands of yarn held together throughout. Wind yarns B and C into two balls.
- Break yarn at color changes.
- When working the mitered shaping, it may be helpful to mark the right side of the work with a safety pin or removable marker.
- The stripe sequence is written in garter ridges (1 garter ridge is 2 knit rows) when viewed from the right side of the work. The cast-on or pick-up row counts as the first row in the first ridge.
- Due to the non-planar shape of this wrap blocking will need to be done in two stages. Block three mitered squares in the first stage, then block the two remaining mitered squares.
