Stacked Cupcakes
This fun, narrow scarf look like stacked cupcakes, hence the name! A fast scarf to knit for gifts. Knit it with small skeins of yarn, leftovers from other projects, or those orphans skeins hiding in your stash. The pattern is an easy repeat worked in a combination of garter, ribbing, and long drop stitches. The pattern is written to use about 100 yards of worsted weight yarn with a size 8 (5 mm) knitting needle though you can make it as long as you like depending on how much yarn you have. You can make it in any weight of yarn by changing the needle size to suit the yarn. Block it for a different look. Make it wider by adding more stitches. Knit it in a novelty yarn for a decorative scarf to dress up a plain outfit. Add fringe on the ends or a button. Sew ends together to make a cowl. Lots of options and lots of different looks! Bet you can’t knit just one! The sample scarf was knit with one skein of Plymouth Gina for a scarf measuring 2-3.5” wide x 42” long (unblocked). The 3 page pattern has written instructions, a photo tutorial for the long stitches an a chart to help you determine how many repeats you can knit with whatever yarn you choose.
