Sssh! Baby Sleeping Cushion
From Simple Knits for Cherished Babies:
This little cushion can be used to hang on the nursery or bedroom door to warn the household that the baby is asleep and must not be disturbed. One of the easiest projects in the book to make, it is an ideal gift for a first baby. it is knitted here in silk but could easily be made from cotton. The two little stocking (stockinette) stitch squares are simply stitched together and stuffed. The front is embroidered in cross stitch. Embroider the words and add an X for a loving kiss,or, if you prefer, embroider the baby’s name or initials.
A simple gift for a baby shower, this little cushion can be embroidered in pink or blue, to be hung on the nursery door to warn others not to disturb the baby while she or he is sleeping.
Additional materials: Embroidery thread; silk or synthetic ribbon, approximately 1 m (39 in) long x 1 cm (1/2 in) wide; sewing needle; silk or satin fabric, measuring approximately 15 cm x 28 cm (6 in x 11 in), for the cushion; suitable stuffing for the cushion.
Techniques: Slip the first stich and knit the last stitch of every row to give a neat edge.
