SPIRITED AWAY
Update: 09.12.15
This pattern is currently unavailable.
“Spirited Away” is a seamless shawl knitted sideways. The shape of the shawl is achieved by increases done along the shawl border. The shawl is easy and enjoyable knit. The leaf pattern is combination of lace and cable stitches. The resulting shawl can be worn in a variety of ways, as a shawl wrapped around the shoulders or as a scarf draped around the neck. Either way, it is a wonderful addition for one’s Fall wardrobe.
Finished Size:
The sample shawl in the photographs after blocking measures 189.2 cm (74.5 inches) for the straight edge on the top of the shawl and 50.8 cm (20 inches) for the height of the shawl at the center. You can easily make it bigger or smaller by adding or taking away pattern repeats. The shawl shape can also be slightly altered, depending how many repeats of increase section and body section you choose to knit.
Yarn:
Maiko by Noro (DK / 8 ply 35% Silk, 35% Wool, 30% Mohair, 132 yards )
4.5 skeins = 594.0 yards (543.2m) was used for the sample shawl.
Colorway:105
The 8-ply yarn can be substituted for a thinner weight yarn if desired.
Thank you to all wonderful test knitters:
