Spires Shawl
The Spires Shawl features a lacy chevron pattern with jagged decreases along one edge reminiscent of the spires on a castle.
The triangular shawl is worked from one vertex, increasing along one edge with jagged decreases along the other edge. The pattern is a great project for that one special skein of fingering weight yarn, but can also be worked with any yarn weight. Instructions are included to make an increase only shawl too.
Level: Easy
The pattern uses basic stitches with two special decrease stitches, and features an easy repeat. There is a detailed picture tutorial.
Size:
Adjustable.
The pictured shawl used 100g of fingering weight yarn and is 63”/ 160 wide and 11”/ 28 cm deep after blocking.
You will work the increase pattern until you have used approximately 2/3 of your yarn, then work the decrease pattern. For the increase only version, you work the shawl until it reaches your desired size.
The pattern is written in English using US crochet terms. The PDF download includes:
- The complete pattern for the shawl
- Instructions to create an increase only shawl
- A picture tutorial with 38 pictures detailing every row
- A list of materials
- A list of abbreviations Two pdfs are included: a printer friendly pattern and a longer tutorial.
I made the pictured shawl with Knit Picks/ WeCrochet Chroma Twist Fingering and a D (3.25 mm) crochet hook.
