Spiral Bag 002
This Spiral Bag is worked in a strip but this is joined as you knit. The pattern has clear diagrams to show you how.
The bag can be worked in any yarn because you knit to measurement not stitch count. You can work it in multi-coloured yarn, colour change yarn, Magic Ball Yarns made from your stash, or in stripes.
Finished size of the bag: circumference is 60cm (24in) approx, height from centre of base is 30cm (12in).
Needle sizes and yarn amounts are as follows:
4ply - 3.00mm - 370m (403yds)
DK - 3.75mm - 303m (360yds)
Aran - 4.00mm - 290m (316yds)
Chunky - 6.00mm - 250metres (273yds)
Stitches used:
Cast on, knit, purl, picking up stitches (diagram),increasing - knit into front and back of stitch (diagram).
Materials
Any yarn you choose - I worked these samples in DK hemp yarn and a Magic Ball Yarn made up of odds and ends of yarn from my stash. I tied buttons onto the knots for decoration.
Needles to match your yarn.
Handles. I used petersham ribbon for the multi-coloured bag. For the hemp bag, I knitted I-cord with stocking stitch tabs. Instructions for these are in the pattern as well as how-to’s for attaching ready-made handles.
