The illusion of circles surrounding a gem is created by this much easier-than-it-looks Barbara Walker stitch pattern.
The appendix contains directions for creating a slouchy version as well as step-by-step instructions to help less experienced knitters learn cabling.
Materials:
Size 8 (5 mm) needles for working in the round (Double Pointed Needles or Circulars) or size to obtain gauge.
Stitch marker for Beginning of Round (BOR)
Sizes: Small (Medium, Large), finished size 15 (18, 21) inches / 38 (45, 53) cm to fit circumference of 16-18 (19-21, 22-24) inches / 40-46 (48-53, 56-61) cm.
Worsted Weight yarn for standard version. 200 (220, 240) yards.
For slouchy version, yarn requirements are approximately the same as one size up from the yardages given.
