Who doesn’t have one of those ”one-of-a-kind” multicoloured skeins and never knows what pattern to use to enjoy that skein the best way?? These Spicy Dyepot socks were designed just for that purpose – an almost vanilla sock with just enough cables to keep the knitting from getting boring.

These socks were also designed with another problem that handdyed yarn sometimes has in mind: that one end of the skein has more dye than the other, meaning that if one knits from both ends the socks will have a visible difference. Most often one sock will be a lighter or have minder saturated colours than the other. To compensate for this problem, I decided to work these with helix stripes. The helix knitting breaks up the pooling that will be otherwise more pronounced.

One more bonus for this pattern is that it is designed for both 4ply as well as 6ply yarn. They are easy to make shorter or longer, if that suits you better. The heel is a short row heel formed by knitting 3 wedges and has extra gusset sts to make the sock fit better.
