Spicy Candy is a romantic yet relaxed shawl, suitable for everyday wear. It mixes a simple double moss stitch with a border in a dramatic and ornate Japanese stitch* that emerges from under an icord, along with a mohair ruffled edge. This gives the shawl a layered look that makes it really romantic.
About the construction, this is a semi-circular shawl that starts with a garter tab and it grows through progressive increases, in double moss stitch. Then you pick up stitches to work the lace and ruffled borders.

The lace pattern is a variation of a Japanese lace pattern that can be found in Hitomi Shida’s 250 Japanese Knitting Stitches book.

DETAILS

SIZES: One size. But you can make it larger or smaller by knitting more or less rows in the section one of the shawl, just be careful that the final number of stitches be a multiple of 16 + 2.

GAUGE: 21 sts & 33 rows = 10 cm, Measured over double moss stitch on 3.5mm (US 4) needles, after blocking.

YARN: About 800 meters of fingering weight yarn and 840 meters of mohair lace.
Sample version
200 g of Corralito yarn’s 100% merino superwash, fingering weight, in colorway Spicy Candy (400 mt per 100 g).
100 g of Corralito yarn’s silk mohair, lace weight, in colorway Holy Coral (420 mt per 50g).

NEEDLES: 3.5mm (US 4) /80 cm circular needles (you can start the shawl with a smaller cable), or the required needle size to obtain gauge.

NOTIONS: stitch markers (if you need it for the lace pattern), tapestry needle (to weave ends), 3.5mm crochet hook for the bubbles, cable needle, block mats and pins. I also recommend using special locking cables for shawls.

IMPORTANT: The lace pattern is only charted, not written row by row.

El Spicy Candy (Caramelo Picante, en español), es un chal romántico y a la vez relajado, perfecto para ser usado a diario. Mezcla un punto arroz doble muy simple con un borde en un dramático y ornamental punto calado japonés* que emerge desde atrás de un cordón (i-cord) junto con un borde de volantes tejido en mohair. Esto le da al chal un aspecto de “capas” que lo hace realmente romántico.
En cuanto a la construcción, se trata de un chal semicircular que comienza con una lengüeta y va creciendo en punto arroz doble a través de aumentos progresivos. Luego se levantan puntos para trabajar el motivo calado y los volantes.

El motivo calado es una variación del motivo que se puede encontrar en el libro de Hitomi Shida llamado 250 Japanese Knitting Stitches.

DETALLES

TALLAS: Una talla. Pero puedes hacerlo más grande o más pequeño tejiendo más o menos vueltas en la sección uno, solo procura que el número final de puntos sea múltiplo de 16 + 2.

MUESTRA: 21 pts & 33 vtas = 10 cm, Medido sobre punto arroz doble con agujas 3.5mm, después del bloqueo.

HILADO: Aproximadamente 800 metros de hilado grosor fingering y 840 metros de hilado grosor lace (mohair o similar).

AGUJAS: Agujas circulares de 3.5mm (US 4) / y cable de 80 cm (puedes comenzar el chal con un cable más pequeño), o el número de agujas necesario para obtener la muestra.

OTROS MATERIALES: Marcadores (si los necesitas para el motivo calado), Marcador que te indique el LD de la labor, aguja de lana (para rematar cabos), aguja auxiliar para cables, ganchillo de 3.5mm para los bodoques, herramientas de bloqueo como mats y alfileres.

IMPORTANTE: El motivo calado solo se encuentra graficado y no escrito vuelta por vuelta.
