This Mandala was inspired by colorful ceramic plates handmade in Spain. The pattern can be used for making a round pillow cover (with zip) or a separate Mandala, which can be used as a trivet, wall hanging or decoration for fabric pillowcase. You can use Dandelion Border (HERE) or Joana’s Border (HERE) to square this mandala up or enlarge into a medium sized rug.

Spanish Mandala is made in Overlay Crochet technique. This easy to follow pattern (18 pages) is written for one size. It contains step by step full written instructions in English using standard crochet abbreviations and US terms (stitch guide is given in the pattern). It also contains lots of pictures explaining all the tricky and difficult places.

Crochet level: Intermediate (front post stitches are used in this pattern).

Materials:

• Yarn in 6 colors. I used yarn “Soft Fun” by Scheepjes: shades 2513, 2496, 2510, 2530, 2519, 2470 and a bit of 2426. But you can absolutely use more colors if you wish!
• Crochet hook 4mm (G) or the size that will give an acceptable gauge. You may also need to change to a smaller hook in the middle of the mandala to prevent it from curling.
• Scissors and Tapestry needle to weave the ends in.
• Zip
