Souvenir of a Killing
This pattern originally appeared in Hitch. It has been rewritten and reworked slightly for release as an individual pattern.
Vertigo remains iconic in my mind, helped in part by the stark, graphic posters and opening titles by Saul Bass. With the Souvenir of a Killing beret and slouch, I sought to capture some of that stark, graphic element. Bass used Lissajous spirals to portray dizziness; I used encircling chevrons. In the film, Scottie tells Judy that she shouldn’t have kept “souvenirs of a killing,” He’s referring to a necklace, but it could as easily refer to himself and his vertigo. Souvenir of a Killing is knit simply, using only one color per row.
