I enjoyed using the two-sized honeycomb motif in both my Sourwood Shawl and Sourwood Pullover, especially with a color-shifting yarn for the background. Next up: a cowl.

The Sourwood Cowl is worked in the round from the bottom up, beginning with a rib that fans across the collarbone. Short row shaping and strategically placed decreases are worked before starting the honeycomb pattern, bringing the cowl close to the neck. The color work is a simple mosaic stitch, using just one color at a rime.

Height: 12”
Upper circumference: 20”
Bottom circumference: 26”

YARN
Fingering or sport weight yarn: approx. 175 yds of Color A and approx. 110 yds of Color B.

US size 4 (3.5 mm) 20” circular needle (suggested), or size needed to obtain gauge.

GAUGE
In garter rib worked in the round, 24 sts and 40 rnds = 4” after blocking.
Exact gauge is not crucial, but be aware that a change in gauge can affect the amount of yarn used and the size of the finished cowl.
