Welcome back the return of daylight with Solstice Headband! A double knit headband will definitely keep the cold away. This pattern is written for someone brand new to double knitting. All the information a knitter needs to try this technique for the first time is included, complete with links to two video tutorials.

2 different colors of sport weight yarn are required for this pattern.
57(67) yds each, for a total of 114(134) yds of yarn

US size 4 3.50 mm 16” 40 cm circular needle
1 extra 24” 60 cm or longer circular needles, US size 3 3.25 mm, 4 3.5 mm, or 5 3.75 mm used for BO

Double knitting is a technique that creates two “right” sides at the same time, thus creating a reversible fabric. Two strands of yarn are alternated and worked simultaneously in a stitch pair. The stitch pair consists of two stitches, one from each strand of yarn. The first stitch in the pair is knit and the second is purled. Always keep to the k1, p1 pattern. Be sure to move yarns to the front of the work when working a purl stitch, and to the back when working a knit stitch.
