Solmut = Knots

Solmut Scarf is knitted flat from bottom to top. Scarf gets its lovely look from a classic, stylized Celtic cable pattern, knots, from which the scarf takes its name. For this triangular shawl, you’ll need one skein of high-quality fingering weight yarn and two balls of silk mohair yarn. The shawl features alternating cable patterns and easy garter stitch, creating a harmonious and captivating overall design.

Finished measurements:
Width 115 cm / 45.25” and height 38 cm / 15”

Yarn:
Fingering weight worsted yarn 100 g = 400 m / 437 yds and silk mohair 50 g = 420 m / 458 yd.

The scarf is worked using one strand of fingering weight yarn and one strand of silk mohair held together.
The sample is knitted in Vuonue Wilhelmi fingering yarn (100 g = 400 m / 437 yd, 70 % Finnish wool, 30 % tencel) in colorway keskiharmaa (lighter version) or tummanharmaa (darker version) and Filcolana Tilia 70 % mohair, 30 % silk (25 g = 210 m / 229 yd) in colorway silver (358) (used in both versions).

Gauge:
20 sts and 29 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm in Garter Stitch in the rows using US 5 / 3,75 mm needle (after blocking).
26 sts and 29 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm in cable knitting in the rows using US 5 / 3,75 mm needle (after blocking).

Needles:
Circular needle US 5 / 3,75 mm cable length 80–100 cm / 32” –39.5”
Double pointed needles US 5 / 3,75 mm and US 4 / 3,5 mm
Cable needle or double pointed needle for working cables.

Notions:
• Crochet hook US G6 / 4 mm

Techniques used in this pattern:
Stockinette Stitch: knit on the RS, purl on the WS
Garter Stitch worked flat: knit every row (knit on RS and on WS).
Cable pattern worked flat: follow the written instructions and the chart. Knit the cable pattern on the central stitches of the work back and forth according to the chart. The cable twists are always worked on the RS of the work. After you have completed rows 1–76 of the chart, continue the cable pattern by working rows 29–60 one more time.
I-Cord: Work a 4 sts I-Cord according to instructions.

Solmut-huivi

Solmut-huivi neulotaan tasona alhaalta ylös. Huiviin tuo ilmettä perinteinen, tyylitelty kelttiläinen palmikkokuvio, solmut, josta huivi on saanut nimensä. Kolmionmuotoista huivia varten tarvitset yhden vyyhdin kampalankaa sekä kaksi kerää silkkimohairlankaa. Huivissa vaihteleva palmikkoneulekuvio ja vaivaton ainaoikeinneule luovat yhdessä sopivasti mielenkiintoisen kokonaisuuden.

Leveys: yläreuna 115 cm, korkeus 38 cm

Langat:
Yksi vyyhti ohutta kampalankaa 100 g = 400 m ja 2 kerää silkkimohairlankaa (25 g = 210 m) Työ neulotaan näillä kahdella langalla, työssä on yksi säie kumpaakin lankaa.
Mallityö on tehty käyttämällä Vuonuen Wilhelmi kampalankaa (70 % suomalainen lampaanvilla, 30 % tencel, 140 tex 2, fingering, 100 g = 400 m) värissä keskiharmaa (vaalea) tai tummanharmaa (tummempi) ja Filcolana Tilia silkkimohairlankaa (70 % kid mohair, 30 % silkki) värissä silver (358).
