There are two options now for the Solidarity Hat. One has no decreases and has the little ears reminiscent of the Pussy Hats. The other has conventional decreases with a pompom on top. Instructions for both are in the free pattern.
I listed sizes, but you can make this hat any size you want. The first option is knit in the round and kitchnered on top. You can use any yarn and any size needle as long as you achieve the circumference you desire. I will be using Red Heart Super Saver (acrylic, which means washable) and a US 8 needle. You will do a 2x2 rib in the round and then knit to the height desired, starting with yellow and doing the top half in blue, to reflect the Ukrainian flag colors. Kitchner close and voila! You show you stand in solidarity with freedom-loving people the world over.
