Snúsnú
Snúsnú was part of my Icelandic Yarn Club 5 and is now available as a single pattern. You can join my Clubs here.
Snúsnú snoo-snoo is a little shawl that will naturally curl around your neck and stay perfectly in place. It is knitted back and forth from the nape of the neck to the border and uses only 3 skeins of 50g Aran weight yarn. The fun border of dropped stitches make it much bigger than expected from such a little amount of yarn.
Snúsnú starts with a garter tab cast on, creating a continuous strip of garter stitch along the top edge of the shawl. Stitches are increased both on right and wrong sides, giving the shawl its twirling shape. A couple of tassels on both ends adds playfulness. Snúsnú refers to twirling (snúast) in Icelandic and is a cute word for a jump rope, which could translate as “twirltwirl”.
