This is a quick and cozy knit. It will work up in a jiffy and will keep your little princess toasty warm. She’ll be the belle of the ball or the playground, whichever is her style.
PS—I have been informed that the yarn used for this pattern has been discontinued—so disappointing. If you are trying to get your hands on some Tiffany, I know that some people have had varying degrees of luck finding some skeins on the internet and on eBay, so you might want to try there if you haven’t already. If you come up empty handed in your search, here are a few alternative yarns that you could look for—Plymouth’s Oh My, and Heaven, Stacey Charles’ Micio, Filatura di Crosa’s Balu, Batuffalo, Flying, and Puff, and finally, Lang’s Angel, and Trendsetters Fiesta. All of these might work successfully for the capelet. I think a double strand of other fuzzy mohair-like yarns or a boucles—could be wool or synthetic—would work. Tiffany is really a thin core yarn with a very soft and wispy eyelash woven into it. The eyelash is like the softest kitten you’ve ever petted (like behind the ears soft) and is not at all stiff like some eyelash yarns. It is really more “furry” than “eyelashy” or “fuzzy”. One thing to bear in mind as you look for alternative yarns is that if you are going to make the coordinating muff, you will need to stick to a yarn that won’t felt {ie. not wool} for the furry side. Also, with all of these yarns you will need to swatch to come up with a comparable gauge. The Plymouth yarns above, might be thick enough to be used singly {not doubled up as in the pattern}.
