Getting ready to head out the door with your favorite pooch? We all know dogs want to accessorize too! What could be more fun than dressing your favorite four-legged friend in his or her very own Snow Dog sweater to strut its stuff? And to make heads really turn as you and your pooch take to the sidewalks, knit up the matching Snow Cone cowl for yourself!

Snow Dog is written for five sizes, based on chest measurement and length from neck to tail. But, this sweater is easily modified to fit your pooch by simply changing needle sizing and/or adding or subtracting length to the body. The body is divided for the front legs, and the back and chest pieces are worked back and forth separately, making this project suitable for intermediate knitters. We’ve even included a clever opening at the top for attaching a leash that will not interfere with your pup’s fashion statement.

GAUGE
17 sts and x 23 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Polka Dots Stitch pattern on larger needles, after blocking.

Needle listed is suggested. Always take time to swatch.

Gauge Needle: Size US 9 (5.5 mm) circular needle or set of DPNs — or size necessary to obtain gauge;

Smaller Needle: Size US 8 (5.0 mm) circular needle or set of DPNs — or size necessary to obtain gauge.

Circular needle can be used instead of DPNs if using the Magic Loop Method.

NOTES
This dog sweater is worked in the round from the neck down. The body is divided for the front legs and the back and chest pieces are worked back and forth separately. After completion of the back and the chest pieces, rejoin to continue working in the round.
Once the body length from neck to belly has been reached, short rows are worked back and forth towards the tail.
