This simple and quick afghan block is the perfect project for lazy summer days - its small enough that you can work on it in the heat, and you’ll have enough of them whipped up in NO time, to join for a big comfy afghan when the weather turns cold again.

Using extremely simple stitches, this is ia perfect beginner project. You can also work this in cotton and make a dishcloth! You can change the size of this block with ease, as well.

When I joined into an afghan, I simply turned the blocks at right angles and created an awesome eye-catching pattern - there is so much texture in this simple block!

I chose a variegated yarn for this, because all the colors create a unique pattern on their own when stitched, but a solid would look just as fantastic with all the texture these stitches produce! :)
