Small Chicks
This chick is the perfect quick project for springtime! It uses a small amount of yarn and requires very little finishing. The head and body are knitted as one piece, the wings and beak are sewn on.
The pattern uses short rows to shape the head and the body while working in the round.
Abbreviations used in the pattern include:
Co: cast on
Dpns: double point needles
K: knit
K2tog: knit two stitches together
RLI: right leaning increase
P: purl
Pm: place marker
Rnd: round
Ssk: Slip stitch, slip stitch, knit slipped stitches
St: stitch
Yo: yarn over
One skein of Knit Picks Dishie yarn (in Creme Brulee) will make about seven or eight chicks and it takes a very small amount of the Knit Picks Swish Worsted (in Allspice) to make the beak. You could even use some leftover orange worsted yarn for the beak if you had some.
