Sleighride Gloves 2024
This pattern will be remembered by readers of Threads in the 1980’s when the magazine featured knitting as well as sewing. I designed these gloves for an article about knitted gloves.
This glove, knit in the round, will fit a variety of hand sizes because of the stretchy ribbed cable at the back of the hand. Finger length is adjustable!
The glove has a unique cuff that is pointed front and back, and narrows towards the wrist. The gusset of the thumb area is formed in a unique way that moves the small central cable on the cuff, palm side, to the tip of the finished thumb!
A bell attached to the cord at the cuff will make your SleighRide even more festive.
The original yarn was Brunswick’s Pomfret (no longer available), but Cascade 220 Sport (non-superwash) works well!
The second photo shows a detail of the cuff-- the red glove only is in this pattern, not the others shown in the second photo.

The actual pattern was not featured in the issue Threads 14, December 1987/January 1988. The designer featured these gloves in an article about designing and making gloves. The pattern was later purchased from Threads directly at Threads Magazine Online
