Slalom Cowl
This is the fourth item from the Three Skein Project
I love to watch slalom skiing. Watching the skiers as they zig and zag down the slopes, avoiding the flags, refusing to give in to gravity and arriving triumphant at the bottom of the slope.
The way this simple lace stitch moved the colours into bright zigzags made the name come to mind.
Shown here in the smallest length recommended (6 inches) this cowl could easily be made longer, depending upon the yardage available.
If trying to work all of the patterns in the Three Skein Project, you may choose to make a longer cowl and forgo the fingerless mitts. I chose to make fingerless mitts with my remaining yarn as I was trying to see just how far I could take the yarn.
Materials: approx. 50 grs assorted colours of worsted weight yarn, sample yarn is Haynes Creek Heather Aran in three shades (sample used 191 (grey marl), 100 (natural), and 174 (red heather)), 5.0mm US #8 16 or 24 inch circs, markers and the regular notions.
Gauge: over lace pattern – blocked – 2 pattern repeats (22 sts) equals approx. 4.5 inches
Size (Dimensions): 21 inches around and 6 inches deep
