This mitten pattern features some of my all-time-favorites: colour blocking and a fun construction. The basic pattern offers a wide range of possibilities of playing with colours. And you can add stripes where ever you like! It’s a great pattern for using all your scraps of worsted or aran weight yarn. The pattern is available in 3 sizes but both width and length can be adjusted easily by adding more or less stitches and/or rows/rounds.

FINISHED SIZE
Size 1
Width of hand (unstretched): 9 cm / 3.5”
Length from base of hand to tip: 18.5 cm / 7.25”.

Size 1 fits an average woman’s hand with approximately 16.5-18.5 cm / 6.5-7.25” hand circumference which matches a women’s size S.

Size 2
Width of hand (unstretched): 10 cm / 4”
Length from base of hand to tip: 19.5 cm / 7.75”.

Size 2 fits an average woman’s hand with approximately 18.5-20.5 cm / 7.25-8” hand circumference which matches a women’s size M.

Size 3
Width of hand (unstretched): 11 cm / 4.25”
Length from base of hand to tip: 20.5 cm / 8”.

Size 3 fits an average woman’s hand with approximately 20.5-22.5 cm / 8-8.75” hand circumference which matches a women’s size L.

Length of mitten and thumb can be adjusted easily by working more or less rows/rounds.

Yarn
Chunky Andean Wool by KAOS Yarn (100% Peruvian Highland wool, 109 yds / 100 m – 50 g).

C1: 1 ball or approx. 30 (32, 35) m / 33 (35, 39) yds of worsted-weight yarn
C2: 1 ball or approx. 42 (46, 52) m / 46 (51, 57) yds of worsted-weight yarn
C3: 1 ball or approx. 40 (44, 49) m / 44 (49, 54) yds of worsted-weight yarn

For sample 1 I’ve used colourways Enigmatic (C1), Confident (C2) and Charismatic (C3) and for sample 2 colourways Vivacious (C1), Spiritual (C2) and Electric (C3).

Gauge
20 sts & 29 rows in stockinette stitch to 10 cm x 10 cm (4” x 4”) after blocking

Needles
4 mm / US 6 DPNs or circular needle for magic loop or needle size needed to get gauge
