The shawl is worked sideways starting from the right-hand side edge. The lace sections have patterning on both sides.
The top edge is straight, the bottom edge is slightly scalloped. To resize, adjust the stitch count in the stockinette stitch section as desired.

From the pattern: Sinikka is named after my favourite cousin once removed. She loves lace shawls and when she asked me to design one for her, I jumped at the chance. She asked for something fancy enough to dress up plainer date night outfits, but plain enough to be worn as a daily scarf.
I decided to create strings of beads since she rarely wears jewellery. The string of beads at the top has two types in one strand. The edge at the bottom has two strands: one of similar beads to the top strand and another of less delicate beads.
