Simple Shrug
This pattern is no longer available
This pattern is the first in a series highlighting accessories and functional crochet items made from rectangles.
Even if you’re a beginner you can crochet something besides a potholder (not that there is anything wrong with potholders!). This simple shrug is just a rectangle. Yes – a rectangle! It’s a perfect summer accessory to add a little pizzazz to your favorite tank top dress. It works up very quickly – you may be tempted to make several in different colors so you’ll always look very ‘put together’!
The pattern uses basic stitches – chains, single crochet, and double crochet. The ribbing sections also use front-post and back-post double crochet stitches (directions below). The pattern is written for a woman’s medium size, but it is easy to customize to fit anyone.
A women’s medium size shrug will take approximately 6 ounces of worsted weight cotton yarn.
