Simple DK Sock
The yarn amount suggestion is if you are knitting for a UK size 4-5 foot but there is a place in the pattern to knit for a longer or shorter length foot. This would then mean you will need more or less yarn than stated.
I designed these socks years and years ago, (before I had my Skipton studio and when I was a freelance hand knit designer working with an American distributor) I have always loved a dk sock. So quick to knit and they just feel like you are wearing a hug on your feet. I have used lots of different types of yarn for these socks, many that I will say are ‘vintage’ now (you could read that as discontinued too but we don’t like that word in the yarn world do we??)
I love these socks with the Mohair Tweed and I’ve used yarn that has lots of beautiful natural fibres in them but they do eventually need a bit of darning!
They do need a little bit of nylon to make them last in wellies, so ColourLab Sock DK is great for this type of use.
I wear my Simple Socks almost every winter, rotating the 100% natural fibres ones while the ones with nylon in are worn in my wellies!
Warm feet mean warm heart and body!
For this pattern I used:
Mohair Tweed - Two 50g Balls of the main shade and oddments for the heel and toe.
WYS Bluefaced Leicester DK – Dyed One 100g hank for the main shade and oddments again for the heel and toe.
Needles: Set of four double pointed 3.75mm needles.
