SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS LC long chain: This pattern uses a single long chain instead of the conventional 3-chain double crochet turning chain worked as follows: Draw up a loop to the height of the dc about to be worked, work first dc in same st. This eliminates the need for a turning chain and the unsightly gaps that accompany the standard turning chain.
NOTES This pattern uses US crochet terminology. The sweater body is worked in a single piece from the bottom up, seamed at the shoulders, and the sleeves are worked seamlessly in turned rounds from armhole to cuff. The neckband and button bands are then worked seamlessly onto the garment. This pattern is unisex and offers reversed button/buttonhole band instructions for boys and girls.
