The cardigan is worked from the top down.
First, the upper back neck is worked with increases at each side to shape the sloped shoulders. Then, stitches are picked up along the sloped edges, and each shoulder is worked separately.
Next, the fronts and back are worked, while stitches are picked up along the shoulders to form the contiguous sleeves.
The yoke and sleeves are worked simultaneously and finished with raglan increases before the work is divided for body and sleeves, which are then completed separately.
The body is finished with a 2x2 rib and an Italian bind-off.
The sleeves are worked straight down and finished with an I-cord bin-off.
Finally, an I-cord is knitted to form a tie, which is attached to the front edge. At the same time, stitches are picked up along the V-neckline, which is bound off progressively using an I-cord bin-off, ending with a matching tie on the opposite front.
